Sizzix Suitcase Gift Card Holder

It seems like everyone in our days prefer a Gift Card than an actual gift when it comes to the Holidays and gift giving.  Since this is the new trend, I decided this year to make Gift Card holders.  Here's one that I made using Eileen Hull's Sizzix Suitcase Die.  This die is lovely and very versatile for any occasion.  I gave this one to my Secret Santa at work with an Amazon card inside and she loved it! At first she thought that the gift was actually the little suitcase, I thought that was hilarious.  Here's my creation...

Just a Little Project!

Good Morning my Friends!  Wowzeee it's been a while since I've posted. I am excited to tell you that I will be on vacation this coming week.  I so need a vacation after everything that I've been working on.  My Basement will be finally finished by the time we get back and cannot wait to show you my new Dungeon!  I will have my crafty space down there so stay tuned for the upcoming pics.  Today I want to share with you a LO I made for a good friend of mine. I've recently began working on more Scrapbook pages and I love it.  I made this LO for a good friend of mine, I used the DCWV Songbird Stack.  The poem was from the Internet and all I did was print it out and cut each sentence out and then distressed it a bit with brown ink.  I love how it turned out.  Ok so I leave you with this project and will see you again in a week.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday to all.  I am so excited to show you some pics from my CHA Chicago trip.  I was thrilled to have been able to attend this year.  It was my very first show and I had a blast.  Meeting designers and crafty peeps was the highlight of my trip.  Unfortunately I did not buy anything but was able to do make-and-takes and also took a class on Banners and Swags. Here's a picture of a project I worked on last week before I went on my trip.  My basement is almost finished and I've been making a few picture frames to decorate my walls down there.  Let me know what you think.

'I Miss You'- Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!
I am having so much fun with my family today.  My brother makes the most amazing BBQ and he's out there grillin' right now while I came inside to post this.  I know I've been MIA for a while, but wonderful things have been going on in my neck of the woods, so my absence  hasn't been bad at all, at least not for me :).  I made this card for my sister Nancy who is a Marine and stationed in San Diego.  I miss her very much and we are sad that she could not be here with us today while we celebrate this memorable day.
I used the KinderStampo 'Through Sunshine and Rain' stamp set.  the paper is from Papertrey Inc.  White quilling paper strips that I cut out myself from the Recollections textured paper pack.  Stampin Up Oval and Scallop Oval punches.  Let me know what you think!

Enjoy your day and I will see you back again with more news and projects!

Quilling It Thursdays~ Beehive Technique

Good Morning and happy Thursday!
I am excited to show you a fun and easy techique my friend Maritza taught me at the Quilling Convention I attended last month.  This technique is called the 'Beehive Technique'.  After I learned it I was hooked!! its super easy and the finished projects look amazing.  So last saturday I had to teach a Quilling class and I decided to teach the ladies this technique.  It was a success! My sister came with me and she has never quilled and she mastered it in a blink of an eye, I was so proud of her.

Here's the project we made:

I used the Tim Holtz Cabinet Die.  The sentiment is from My Creative Time.

Quilling Beehive Technique

First you make  petals by rolling a strip of paper around an object (ie:a ruler, a bottle of glue etc.)these are called ring coils. Then you shape them as leaves by pinching both ends, like the pic. or just one end, your choice,  you decide how big you want your petals. This will give you an open coil just like the picture.

Second you take a strip of paper and you begin rolling it from the top, give it about 3 rolls , then let it go.  Take another section of the strip and continue the process until you have made several coils on the same strip of paper.  Do not glue!

This is what you will end up with.  A strip of paper with several loose coils.

Then take the leaves that you have prepared and begin inserting the curled strip inside these.  If you have too many coils and they don't fit, simply snip them.  If you think you need more to fill in gaps, repeat second step and so on until you are completely satisfied.

This is how it should look with all the coils inside.
Proceed to form your flower with the rest of the petals.

Here's my Sister's Project.
Her first ever Quilled Project!

I hope you give this technique a try.  If you do you can link up your project in Mr. Linky.

Thank you for stopping by and I will see you next time with another project.

Quilling it Thursdays~Pocket Watch with Quilling

Happy Thursday everyone!  When I received my Quill America last month, I was inspired and many creative ideas popped in my head when I read a small article in there on using pocket watches with quilling.  My  project for today is the name tag I made for the Quilling Convention that I attended two weeks ago in Lancaster, PA.  The host of the convention asked for everyone to make their own name tags.  The pocket watch and ball chain are from Tim Holtz.  I love how it turned out. My name was cut out from a junk mail envelope, got to love that junk mail!! well that came in handy...:)  Here's the picture...

I hope this inspires you to create your own masterpiece.  If you do, you can link your project to Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.  I would love to see your creations.
Thank you for stopping by and I will see you again soon with another project.

Moms are Special!

Hello Crafty Friends!  I am so happy to be back after taking some time off.  I am charged with tons of ideas and inspiration and can't wait to begin sharing them with you.  To get a jump start I created this card in honor of all the 'Special Moms' in a special day like today.  Wishing you all 'Crafty and Non-Crafty Moms out there a Happy and Fun Day filled with lots of love and hugs.  Wishing my mom a Super day surrounded by 4 of her children (we are 6) and 9 of her grand-kids.
'Te Amo Mami eres la Mama mas linda del Universo'~sorry had to say that in Spanish.
The dress die cut is from Spellbinders and the Sentiment is from My Creative Time 'Mom You Rock' stamp set. The Roses were made using circles and then cutting them in a spiral way.  Hopefully I'll have a tutorial on how to make them after I get over a chest cold that has left me without a voice...lol horrible!!!
Here's my creation let me know what you think.

Happy Mother's Day!
Quilled Hugs,
Linda K.
